Well Monday 03/31/14 the Government passed the law that gave a temporary patch to Medicare and it included the one year delay of ICD-10. All of my former classmates in Health Information Technology are freaking out because most of them learned ICD-10 and not ICD-9. Plus the internet is blowing up with this decision and they all feel like they have wasted their time and now they feel like they will not be able to get a job now. Alot of negative press has come up about how its the doctors fault and this and that. I feel like this might be a good thing because alot of doctor's were not ready for ICD-10 plus their biggest fear was only getting paid for Medicare and some Medicaid patients by their performance not with the patient coming over and over to see the doctor.
Also announced this week, like current and future HIT professionals needed more stress, AHIMA announced that the CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) certification was being canceled until further notice. Why did they cancel because they are claiming that their was a security breach and so they have to investigate it. So somehow the test got leaked. From what I have read and from what people who have taken the test have told me. Taking the test is under high security and your books you get to bring to the test gets searched and you can only bring the books in and that is it. So someone let some people slide and now all the current students and anyone who was going to take this test is out of luck.
I really do feel sorry for all of my former major mates and all the professionals who were looking forward to a potential promotion by taking the test. This will just give all of the healthcare professionals another year to be ready and more people trained for it. Even though there are alot of hospitals that were almost ready for it.
I am glad that I changed majors. If the Comptia A+ test ever gets canceled for whatever reason I would be pissed.

Thank you so much for these informative lines.
ReplyDeleteDear here are some confusions i am facing through,
ICD-9-CM codes are part of CPC-10 or CPC-09?I have prepared for CPC-09 and my trainer told me that ICD-09 is not essential for my selected exams. Isn't?
Secondly cpc-exam-help explains CPC-10 have required some prior experience. this is true?
