I logged onto my Facebook today and to my surprise I get this notice that says my liking and sharing has been complained about, and as a result I am suspended from liking and sharing for three days.So here is my question to Facebook, who complained to you, when a logical person all they had to do was simply email me or message me, that would of been easier. And like when I got suspended from Twitter, I got no email letting me know why or how. So did Facebook do like Twitter and just did it because they went after the wrong account.
I am not a Facebook troll, or a robot account, I am a real person simply using a pseudonym.
But it is what it is....

State of My Blog (April 2014)
Well as I write this I am sitting at 2,155 pageviews. This blog has blown up, and I actually posted as many blogs this past month compared to March. I told you all that I would get back into the groove and make up for it. I think that I am a mediocre blogger. I wrote some book reviews this past month and those posts blew up with pageviews.I did not know that one of the books I reviewed had been out of print. Hopefully for those of you curious enough about that book went to your library and see if they had it. I know that it is available for Kindle. I experimented with my blogging more this past month to see what interests my readers.
I do not blog alot about politics and there are alot of reasons for that and I will cover that in a future blog. But anything politically related that involved my former college major and the people I was in the program with I covered it and that is about as far as I take a political conversation. And a state's increase of college tuition to me was just wrong this past month. We are college students who alot of us do not come from a well to do family. Some have had to take loans out, work two or more jobs, and get the money needed for college one way or another. If they want to increase tuition, in return they should lower the price of books, I mean really. This state does not understand that with the price increases some students are going to turn to online, out of state colleges. But they do not think about these things.
Thank you for being a loyal reader of this blog. Another month has gone by and alot of people have read my blog.

Burger King's Big Chick King: My Thoughts
I recently tried Burger King's Big Chick King. For those of you that are regular readers of this blog know that I did a comparative review of the Big Mac and the Big King. As an admission to my readers at a past job I did try this and it turned out very good. But to me back in those days the Golden Arches $1 chicken sandwich is way better than BK's $1 chicken.
Now on to the review to me it was basic crap. I do not know if they did not change the cooking oil for the chicken products or not but overall BK it is a horrible idea. So to my readers this is a try at your own risk sandwich. Now granted I love the Big King and the other burgers on BK's menu and their Grilled chicken sandwich is awesome too but their fried chicken anything and their nuggets I will not touch.

"Letting Go"
I want to apologize for not writing the past few days. But I have been letting go of things here in my real life. I have been shredding old papers. While I have been shredding all of this stuff, I have been letting go of what has been attached to this stuff. I am shredding and deleting things from my past major that I changed from back in Jan, and I am excited to start my new major, Computer Support Specialist, in a few weeks. I learned alot while in Health Information Technology, but I just could not see myself struggling after graduation and have to travel and volunteer to gain work experience. So that is gone, the textbooks I had have been gone since February. I have been shredding things from my failed marriage and going through this stuff is a reminder why my marriage failed and it is also a reminder that I need to let the grudge I have been carrying around for the past 6 years go. She has moved on and I have been trying but rebuilding my life has taken longer than expected. School has been my drive, but I got lost in the possibilities of health information technology, but people in the field as the saying goes "pulled back the curtain", and I really did not like the idea. It is funny how old papers reveal so much. I let go of Christianity easier than all of my grudges.
So as one door closes, another opens....or I hope so.

Internet Explorer's Security Breach
It was announced over the weekend that Microsoft's Internet Explorer has a massive security issue and it effects all versions of IE. I quit using IE here recently it was just moving too slow for my blood. So I have been using Google Chrome and everything so far seems to be doing fine. I will however hope Microsoft gets this issue fixed since all of my online classes require either IE or Firefox. I did not care for Firefox when I used it one time.
So my question is how did Microsoft let this happen and how does it effect all versions of IE. When I saw the article posted the picture for it told the tale. It was a picture of someone pretending to stab their laptop.
Well more woes for Microsoft.

I Was a Hardcore Comic Book Collector
Back when I was around 16 or 17 a comic book store opened and I took to it like a moth to the flame. The first store that opened in my community kept me modest. I read a very few comic books at this time. I was working my second job at this time. Then the first store closed due to the lack of business.
The second store opened and it had alot more selection and all of my friends went to this store so it was alot of word of mouth comic recommendations. The owner of this store let us order pretty much whatever we wanted and I was ready at least 30 titles a month from a bunch of different publishers. I mainly stayed with Marvel and Image. I read alot of the X-Men titles and I was big into Spawn by Image. So I developed a "comic book" habit. I was reading alot and spending alot. I quit going to the comic book shop after I got my first vehicle with a monthly payment and I discovered the local music store so I basically swapped habits, except music was cheaper, and I would buy some music every so often. I had to be reminded of my habit by a bunch of friends. So after that I quit going to the comic book shop except maybe once a month.
So what did I learn from this. Well I learned about debt and if you live beyond your means. But when you do not have alot of close friends and your anti-social a hobby can make your life a little easier. Reading and collecting comics did that for me. It was a release.
Now I am older and this was a life lesson.

Blog #121
This little blog was started in Jan. The idea was this was going to be an outlet for me to talk about whatever I want to. I was not expecting this blog to be viewed by over 2,000 page views since I started it. I might not write the best blogs in the world, but I have made quite a few people curious and they brought friends with them. It still amazes me that this little side project has grown. I am a random blogger its based on what I see on the news, YouTube, and just various other sources, and some tidbits from me your blogger. I am not trying to change the world, I just want to educate it and make people curious. As I write this blog I have noticed that I have written almost as much as I did in February. March I could of done better, but I have just been dealing with alot. I feel I have made up for March here in April so I hope that you still enjoy this blog.
So for you 2,000 people who have visited this blog and kept coming thank you. For those of you that come and then came back with friends, thank you.

No Easter Google Doodle
I found this update on a forum that was talking about that their was no Google Easter doodle. For those of you that do not know, on certain days/holidays if you go to google.com the Google logo will be what they called "doodled". Well this Easter they did not do one and that got everyone in the forum in an uproar. People claiming that google intentionally forgot Easter and they were claiming that it was unfair. I have an idea that many of these posts are fake but you know how overly sensitive some people can be and how easily someone can be up in arms about something so trivial.
Does anyone think that maybe since they did one last year that they did not want to do the same one again? And for those of you that complained about it, those people have no lives to be looking for something so trivial.
Does that mean those same people who fussed about no Easter doodle this year, did they fuss about today's doodle celebrating Earth Day?

PC Novice Netscape Navigator
This is the 3rd issue in my series. Who remembers Netscape Navigator? This issue talked about all the things you could with the Navigator.
Netscape Navigator was a proprietary web browser. It was the flagship product of the Netscape Communications Corp and was the dominant web browser in terms of usage share in the 1990s, although by 2002 its usage had almost disappeared. This was primarily due to the increased usage of Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser software, and partly because the Netscape Corporation (later purchased by AOL) did not sustain Netscape Navigator's technical innovation after the late 1990s.
The business demise of Netscape was a central premise of Microsoft's antitrust trial, wherein the Court ruled that Microsoft Corporation's bundling of Internet Explorer with the Windows operating system was a monopolistic and illegal business practice. The decision came too late for Netscape however, as Internet Explorer had by then become the dominant web browser in Windows.
The Netscape Navigator web browser was succeeded by Netscape Communicator. Netscape Communicator's 4.x source code was the base for the Netscape-developed Mozilla Application Suite, which was later renamed SeaMonkey. Netscape's Mozilla Suite also served as the base for a browser-only spinoff called Mozilla Firefox and Netscape versions 6 through 9.
AOL stopped development of Netscape Navigator on 28 December 2007, but continued supporting the web browser with security updates until 1 March 2008. AOL allows downloading of archived versions of the Netscape Navigator web browser family. AOL maintains the Netscape website as an Internet portal.
But now in 2014 a new version of Netscape Navigator is available. Here is a review courtesy of Softpedia.
Netscape Navigator is no longer a valid web browser as its development stopped back in 2007 and all support was discontinued at the beginning of 2008.
Netscape Navigator is a web browserundefined built on the Mozilla platform. So, if you're on the hunt for new ways to navigate on the Internet, why not try something inspired by the best in the business?
The installation process takes little time to complete, and there are no extraordinary features to it, so, you can safely initiate the Navigator afterward.
The user interface looks extremely familiar - same search bar on the upper right corner, same add-ons, same Options interface... maybe Netscape has borrowed one too many elements from Firefox, but at least it has its well-known colors (which take after ESET Nod32 a little).
Features found in Netscape Navigator include an improved newsfeed support and methods of discussion, submission, the possibility to vote web pages, multi profile support, extensive security center, one-click searching from the address bar, Click-to-Seach, tabbed browsing, and others.
The default search engine is AOL's, but you can easily change that. Time it takes Netcape Navigator to load a page is fast, but not faster than in the case of its "mentor", and it gets stuck or crashes, in some rare occasions.
In addition, memory resources are significantly used, even when there's only a single web page opened, with text content.
Unfortunately, support for Netscape browsers was discontinued a while back, so the Navigator recommends you use Flock or Firefox.
Nevertheless, Netscape Navigator proves to be a pretty good alternative to other weaker web browsers, and it definitely deserves a fair trial. It's free, after all.

PC Novice Windows 98
This was the second of three magazines I bought in either 1998 or 1999. It was a magazine called PC Novice. I googled the topic and found out it had a name change and closed its doors in 2012.
I remember buying this magazine I wanted to learn Windows 98 in depth and this was going to used as a step to get me back into school to learn how to be a computer tech. I already knew how to setup a computer and install software on it. Back in the day when they used diskettes and CD's for everything.
I remember Windows 95 and Windows 98. I liked 98 at the time it was at the time not as likely to crash unlike 95. If you had one virus in 95 you were done. I went through 2 computers with 98 one killed due to lightning the other due to alot of viruses on it courtesy of an ex-wife.
As I thumb through the magazine for the first time in 16 years alot of what Win 98 did back then we still do on Windows XP. I have not dealt with Windows 7 or 8 yet so I can not really say if things have changed that much. The only thing that has really changed since win 98 is that we do not use 3.5 floppy disks anymore.I of course have a stack of them running around and do not use them.
This magazine did keep things in simple English and that was a good thing especially for me who was just really learning Win 98.
Did the world make a big fuss over Windows 98 when Microsoft ended service of it?
That was the main point of this blog. Part of it was meant to be a throwback blog. I had read somewhere recently someone's response to everyone being "sensitive" about Windows XP coming to an end. "Most of the Windows XP computers are either passed on to senior citizens from family and that the rest of us needs to catch up with the 21st century".
My response is unless you used Windows 95 or even better Windows 3.1. Do not complain about us the XP users loving XP. I like Windows 7 and maybe if they work out the bugs in Windows 8 or 8.1 I might like that, when I get my next computer.

PCNovice Guide to the Web
I found this magazine while cleaning out some old books that I do not use anymore. I had actually forgotten I had this magazine and thought it had been thrown out. This magazine originally came out between 1998 or 1999. Even though this magazine is 16 years old the sites that are mentioned in it are still relevant today because some of the sites listed here are still around. Other things this issue covered was "what was good and bad about AOL". Is AOL even still around? It also covers how to access the web, and how to pick the best ISP.
When I bought this magazine I used it alot to learn about the internet. Unfortunately computer information systems was not a major program at my local technical school and this magazine and two others made me want to work on and deal with computers. I never thought 16 years later I would finally be learning that.

Food Safety Tips
I feel this subject is important and I want to share what I know with you my readers. In my community a local Chinese place recently had a visit by the state health inspector and they made a 50 on it. They are now on a monitor closely list where they have so many days/months to get their standards back up to state standards or decide to close. That is part of the reason for this blog. We live in a society where people are always in a hurry and they do not want to cook. I know people that will say even though I got a slight stomach ache and felt sick I would go back and eat there again. That mentality is everywhere. We all know someone that has said that. I know a few people that even though they got a little sick once or twice will go back to the same places they got sick from. Why? I have been in the hospitality business for 11 years. I annoy people I am with when we go out to eat because I look for things. And if you tell me you ate somewhere and got sick from it guess what I am not going. People have the same mentality when it comes to grocery stores too, but that is another blog post. So what I am about to share with you is things you should look for when you go out to eat and if any of your friends tell you that some restaurant made them sick before you go eat there look for these few things or ask to see them.
First look around for certificates that are supposed to be in customer sight they are called servsafe certifications in some states something else is required look and see how many people are certified in that restaurant. In some states some places have to have at least 4 or 5 people certified and make sure they are current if you see them.
Second thing to look for or ask for find their last DPH visit sheet or ask to see their last health inspector visit. Most places have them to where you can see them they are required to do that by law. If they are not making 85 or better. DO NOT EAT THERE.
Thirdly there are little things you can see around you that will let you know whether or not to keep eating there. Ask yourself is your own kitchen either nasty/clean.
It may annoy some fast food places but for your own safety ask them to cook your food fresh.

Malcolm Young of AC/DC
Today it was announced that due to an illness Malcolm Young of AC/DC is taking a break from the band. What type of illness is not totally clear. But AC/DC also announced that they are not retiring any time soon. Malcolm Young is a founder of AC/DC and has been with the group since the beginning. The band has been around for 40+ years and in that time has only lost one member of the band, the late Bon Scott in 1980.
Whoever they find to fill in for Malcolm Young will have big shoes to fill.

State Announce Another Increase to College Tuition
It was announced this week that a state was going to again increase the tuition for all colleges in their state. At the flagship college of this state tuition is increasing by 7%. Every other college in the state is raising tuition by 2.5%. Alot of current students are going to have to struggle to pay for college and all of the high school kids in the future may not even go to college at all due to the fact they can not afford to go. Plus alot of high school students are seeing how hard it is to find a job with a college degree. The author of this blog got a college degree and could not find a job in my town and surrounding areas. That made me feel disheartened and I felt like I had wasted my parent's money and let them down. In my opinion more and more scholarships are in the wrong fields.
So as tuition increases their will be less students going to this state college's. It might help the state's technical colleges or all of these colleges you see on TV their attendance will go up.

Kids React to a Rotary Phone and a Walkman
For those of you that are regular surfers of YouTube, you may of found the Fine Bros. channels. They do Kids react videos and the last two kids react videos they did were on items that I grew up with. A walkman and a rotary phone. The videos are both hilarious as the kids who range in age from 6-11 try to figure out both of these items. One kid tells the commentator that he felt sorry for the commentator growing up in the era of the walkman. The kids were asked how they would text on a rotary phone it was a trick question but one kid was actually trying to figure it out.
Videos like this just prove how much technology has changed.

The State of Louisiana
The state of Louisiana is trying to do two things, both of which may end up getting them a few lawsuits, first thing they are trying to do is make the Bible the official state book. The bill has passed in one house and is being sent to the other. These politicians have nothing else to do with their time is there not other important things they could be debating on.
According to the Slate blog, alot of other politicians are complaining that other versions of the bible should be considered. Also according to the slate blog the complaining politicians feel like this:
It] brought immediate objection from Rep. Stephen Ortego, D-Carencro, who said his Catholic Bible contains some books that aren’t in the King James version. “A lot of people believe in a Bible that has things different than what’s in there, not just Catholics. It’s also Orthodox,” Ortego said. “Why not put all versions of the Bible? If there’s one, what are we saying about the rest of the people?” added Rep. Robert Billiot, D-Westwego.
Thank goodness for separation of church and state right? Wrong according to the Slate blog:
And so it was. But, what of that pesky church and state not comingling issue? Not a problem. Carmody points out, the Advocate reports, “the state can have more than one state book, just as it has more than one official jelly.” "This is not about establishing an official religion," Carmody told the Times-Picayune.
Well thank goodness for the ACLU:
The American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana is predictably unimpressed. The organization says the bill "represents the use of religion to discriminate against Louisianians of minority faiths or who do not adhere to that particular book as part of their belief system. The bill will create more problems than it will solve by telling some Louisianians that their belief system is not full equal."
Hopefully the bill will not pass or Louisiana is going to be getting sued from all directions. Citizens of Louisiana do you think they could be using your tax money a little differently. Does Louisiana really need a state book?

Also the bill that was passed in 2008 called the Louisiana Science Education Act is being challenged because it overall allows teachers to promote creationism over Darwin's Theory of Evolution.
The Louisiana Science Education Act is an "academic freedom law" based on the Discovery Institute's academic freedom model statute. The LSEA allows teachers in public schools to use supplemental materials in the science classroom that are critical of established scientific theories "including, but not limited to, evolution, the origins of life, global warming and human cloning." Senator Nevers, sponsor of the bill, states that he introduced the bill at the behest of the Louisiana Family Forum to allow creationism to be taught in public schools. Gene Mills, president of the Louisiana Family Forum, states that the bill is necessary to allow teachers to "critically present" evidence and "quit choosing sides when it comes to teaching students this controversial subject matter."
Critics of the bill suggest that it is intended as an end-run around the federal ban on the teaching of creationism in public schools, and say that the sole purpose of the law is to provide legal cover to educators who want to introduce things other than science to the teaching of evolution in contravention of court rulings in cases such as Edwards v. Aguillard (1987) and Kitzmiller et al. v. Dover Area School District (2005), something opposed by the scientific community.
On June 3, 2008, The American Institute of Biological Sciences sent a letter to House Speaker Jim Tucker opposing SB 733. On June 20, 2008, AIBS and seven other societies sent a letter to Governor Bobby Jindal requesting that he veto SB733. The requesting societies included the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the American Ornithologists Union, the American Society of Mammalogists, the Botanical Society of America, the Natural Science Collections Alliance, the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology, the Society of Systematic Biologists, and the Society for the Study of Evolution.
Overall this bill should not of passed back in 2008. Kids in school no matter what state they live in need to be taught Darwin's Theory of Evolution and the Big Bang Theory. I feel like these kids these days are getting brainwashed more and more. Keep truth and logic in schools and keep the Biblical stories where they belong in church and in the privacy at home.

Fla. Woman Dies Due To a Health Condition
A 32 year old Florida woman died this week due to not being able to afford "Obamacare", she had a couple of kids and was working 3 jobs. She had a heart condition and due to her not making enough money a year she could not afford getting "Obamacare", but she could of qualified for Medicare/Medicaid expansion but the Republicans in Florida would not accept the expansion. So this young lady died while with a client from her heart condition. She could not afford her medications or able to go and see a doctor. After her funeral her best friend wrote the newspaper and claimed that politicians were the ones that killed her friend.
I understand why some states would not accept the expansion, many states do not have the money to afford it. As a result of these decisions it is estimated that 17,000 people a year will die due to the lack of health care.
Think about it for just a minute....

Dionne Warwick Declares Bankruptcy
Former Solid Gold host, singer, and star of some infomercials, Dionne Warwick, announced this week that she was declaring bankruptcy due to the fact that she owes the IRS over $10 million and can not pay it. She claims that she only makes $25,000 month due to royalties and what not, and she claims that she can not pay the IRS. If it was me and owed the IRS where would I be jail, or they would be taking it out of my paycheck every time. She claims that she can barely afford her bills and what not on $25,000 a month, but she can still afford $5,000 a month on housekeeping. Time for her to clean her own house.

God's Not Dead
God's Not Dead is a 2014 Christian drama film directed by Harold Cronk, and stars Kevin Sorbo, Shane Harper, David A.R. White and Dean Cain. The film was released to theaters on March 21, 2014, by Pure Flix Entertainment.
Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper), a devout Christian and freshman college student, enrolls in a philosophy class taught by a dogmatic and argumentative atheist. Professor Radisson (Kevin Sorbo) demands that all of his students must sign a declaration that "God is dead" in order to get a passing grade. Faced with a choice between passing the class and betraying his beliefs, Josh refuses. As Josh is the only student in the class to do so, the professor strikes a bargain: Josh must defend his position that "God's not dead" in a series of debates with him, with the class members ultimately deciding who wins. If Josh loses, he flunks. When Josh accepts the challenge, he gets more than he bargained for — jeopardizing his faith, his academic future, and even his relationships.
There are several struggles and personal beliefs going on as well in the film; Ayisha (Hadeel Sittu) must hide her Christianity from her devout Muslim family and father; Mina (Cory Oliver) must deal with her mother who is suffering from dementia, her rich and executive brother Mark (Dean Cain) who refuses to see their mother, she also is in a relationship with Radisson (which is also a struggle as Mina is a devout Christian and Radisson is an atheist), and is frequently belittled in front of his colleagues; Amy (Trisha LaFache), a businesswoman and animal right's activist, is diagnosed with cancer and Mark (her boyfriend) breaks up with her, seeming to care more about his business life than he did about Amy; Martin (Paul Kwo) is a foreign exchange student from China, who struggles are similar to Josh as his father does not want him screwing up his brother's scholarship (as Josh's girlfriend, Kara, did not want him standing up to Radisson as it would affect her scholarship).
Radisson has Josh spend 20 minutes at the end of every lecture to give his arguments on why God exists, but Radisson constantly has a counter argument against all of Josh's debates. Ultimately, it comes down to a debate between both Radisson and Josh, who both make compelling points from both sides. Josh questions Radisson, asking why he hates God and after Radisson gives his response, Josh asks Radisson how he can hate someone that he doesn't believe exists. In the end, every member of Josh's class, including Martin, stand up and say "God's Not Dead", causing Radisson to leave the room in defeat. Radisson ultimately has a change of heart upon reading a letter from his late mother, and leaves to find his ex-girlfriend Mina, who is attending a Newsboys concert. He is struck by a car while crossing the street and his ribs are crushed, leaving him slowly dying of internal hemorrhaging. Pastor Dave ( David A.R. White) finds him, and helps save Radisson, who becomes a born-again Christian moments before his death.

Top 10 Events in Wrestling History....
This will be the top 10 events, in my opinion, that shocked and angered fans the most. All of these events can be looked up on YouTube most are on that site.
#10 The day Shane Douglas refused the NWA World Championship and declared himself the new ECW Heavyweight Champion.
#9 WCW's Bash at the Beach the night that Hulk Hogan and the Outsiders (Hall and Nash) formed the NWO. It was the first time in his career that Hulk Hogan ever turned "heel" the crowd went nuts throwing trash in the ring and boo-ing.
#8 WCW's Halloween Havoc Goldberg vs. DDP. This incident was the start of the end for WCW. The PPV ran later than expected and 2 minutes into this match the major PPV providers killed the signal and therefore alot of angry fans demanded their money back.
#7 ECW Heavyweight Champion Mike Awesome leaves ECW while still champion and takes a deal with WCW that makes him look like an idiot, he became "That 70's Guy".
#6 On an episode of WWF Primtime Bobby Heenan announces the coming of "The real World Champion" and is holding the NWA/WCW World Heavyweight Championship belt. The following week Ric Flair is announced. That even lead to Ric Flair being sued by WCW and WCW had to come up with a new belt.
#5 The end of the original ECW in 2001, and then the creation of WWE's version of ECW in 2005/6. Also WWE bought out WCW.
#4 Goldbery vs. Kevin Nash for the WCW world heavyweight championship at Starcade. This match ended Goldberg's winning streak. Goldberg was basically robbed of this match due to Scott Hall.
#3 Vince McMahon vs Bobby Lashley for the ECW Championship. After basically stacking the deck against Bobby Lashley. Vince McMahon became the ECW World Champion. This match was a result of Mr. McMahon losing his hair at Wrestle mania. It was also the last time Bobby Lashley was in WWE.
#2 WrestleMania 30 Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar. This match was the end of the streak (21-1).
#1 Shawn Micheals vs. Bret Hart. Summerslam 97. This match would be known as the Montreal Screwjob. Because Bret Hart was headed to WCW, it was decided that Michaels was to win the match and the way the match ended with Mr. McMahon demanding the bell to be rung. This lead to Bret Hart spitting at McMahon and giving him a black eye.

A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange is a dystopian novella by Anthony Burgess published in 1962. Set in a not-so-distant future English society that has a culture of extreme youth violence, the novel's teenage anti-hero, Alex, narrates his violent exploits and his experiences with state authorities intent on reforming him. When the state undertakes to reform Alex—to "redeem" him—the novel asks, "At what cost?". The book is partially written in a Russian-influenced argot called "Nadsat". According to Burgess it was a jeu d'esprit written in just three weeks.
In 2005, A Clockwork Orange was included on Time magazine's list of the 100 best English-language novels written since 1923, and it was named by Modern Library and its readers as one of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century. The original manuscript of the book is located at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada since that institution purchased the documents in 1971.
Alex, a teenager living in near-future dystopian England, leads his gang on a night of opportunistic, random "ultra-violence". Alex's friends ("droogs" in the novel's Anglo-Russian slang, 'Nadsat') are: Dim, a slow-witted bruiser who is the gang's muscle; Georgie, an ambitious second-in-command; and Pete, who mostly plays along as the droogs indulge their taste for ultra-violence. Characterized as a sociopath and a hardened juvenile delinquent, Alex is also intelligent and quick-witted, with sophisticated taste in music, being particularly fond of Beethoven, referred to as "Lovely Ludwig Van".
The novel begins with the droogs sitting in their favorite hangout (the Korova Milk Bar), drinking "milk-plus", a drink consisting of milk, prodded with the customer's choice of certain drugs, including "vellocet", "synthemesc", or "drencrom" (which is what Alex and his droogs were drinking, according to Alex's own first-person narration). This drug, referred to as "knives", would "sharpen you up", as it did for Alex, in preparation of the night's mayhem. They assault a scholar walking home from the public library, rob a store, leaving the owner and his wife bloodied and unconscious, stomp a panhandling derelict, then scuffle with a rival gang. Joyriding through the countryside in a stolen car, they break into an isolated cottage and maul the young couple living there, beating the husband and raping his wife. In a metafictional touch, the husband is a writer working on a manuscript called "A Clockwork Orange," and Alex contemptuously reads out a paragraph that states the novel's main theme before shredding the manuscript. Back at the milk bar, Alex punishes Dim for some crude behaviour, and strains within the gang become apparent. At home in his dreary flat, Alex plays classical music at top volume while fantasizing about more orgiastic violence.
Alex skips school the next day. Following an unexpected visit from P. R. Deltoid, his "post-corrective advisor," Alex meets a pair of ten-year-old girls and takes them back to his parents' flat, where he serves them scotch and soda, injects himself with hard drugs, and then rapes them. That evening, Alex finds his droogs in a mutinous mood. Georgie challenges Alex for leadership of the gang, demanding that they pull a "man-sized" job. Alex quells the rebellion by slashing Dim's hand and fighting with Georgie, then in a show of generosity takes them to a bar, where Alex insists on following through on Georgie's idea to burgle the home of a wealthy old woman. The break-in starts as farce and ends in tragic pathos, as Alex's attack kills the elderly woman. His escape is blocked by an attack by Dim, as payback for the earlier fight, leaving Alex incapacitated on the front step when the police arrive.
entenced to prison for murder, Alex gets a job at the Wing chapel playing religious music on the stereo before and after services as well as during the singing of hymns. The prison chaplain mistakes Alex's Bible studies for stirrings of faith (Alex is actually reading Scripture for the violent passages). After Alex's fellow cellmates blame him for beating a troublesome cellmate to death, he agrees to undergo an experimental behaviour-modification treatment called the Ludovico Technique. The technique is a form of aversion therapy in which Alex receives an injection that makes him feel sick while watching graphically violent films, eventually conditioning him to suffer crippling bouts of nausea at the mere thought of violence. As an unintended consequence, the soundtrack to one of the films — Beethoven's Ninth Symphony — renders Alex unable to listen to his beloved classical music.
The effectiveness of the technique is demonstrated to a group of VIPs, who watch as Alex collapses before a walloping bully, and abases himself before a scantily-clad young woman whose presence has aroused his predatory sexual inclinations. Although the prison chaplain accuses the state of stripping Alex of free will, the government officials on the scene are pleased with the results and Alex is released into society early as a result.
Since his parents are now renting his room to a lodger, Alex wanders the streets homeless. He enters a public library where he hopes to learn a painless way to commit suicide. There, he accidentally encounters the old scholar he assaulted earlier in the book, who, keen on revenge, beats Alex with the help of his friends. The policemen who come to Alex's rescue turn out to be none other than Dim and former gang rival Billyboy. The two policemen take Alex outside of town and beat him up. Dazed and bloodied, Alex collapses at the door of an isolated cottage, realizing too late that it is the house he and his droogs invaded in the first part of the story. Because the gang wore masks during the assault, the writer does not recognize Alex. The writer, whose name is revealed as F. Alexander, shelters Alex and questions him about the conditioning. During this sequence, it is revealed that Mrs. Alexander died of injuries inflicted during the gang-rape, while her husband has decided to continue living "where her fragrant memory persists" despite the horrid memories. Alex reveals in his description that he has been conditioned to feel intolerable deathly nausea on hearing certain classical music. Alexander, a critic of the government, intends to use Alex's therapy as a symbol of state brutality and thereby prevent the incumbent government from being re-elected, but a careless Alex soon inadvertently reveals that he was the ringleader during the night two years ago. Frightened for his own safety, Alex blurts out a confession to the writer's radical associates after they remove him from F. Alexander's home. Instead of protecting him, however, they imprison Alex in a dreary flat not far from his parents' residence. They pretend to leave, and then while he is sleeping in a locked bedroom subject him to a relentless barrage of classical music, prompting him to attempt suicide by leaping from a high window.
Alex wakes up in a hospital, where he is courted by government officials anxious to counter the bad publicity created by his suicide attempt. With Alexander placed in a mental institution, Alex is offered a well-paying job if he agrees to side with the government. As photographers snap pictures, Alex daydreams of orgiastic violence and reflects upon the news that his Ludovico conditioning has been reversed as part of his recovery: "I was cured, all right".
In the final chapter, Alex finds himself half-heartedly preparing for yet another night of crime with a new trio of droogs. After a chance encounter with Pete, who has reformed and married, Alex finds himself taking less and less pleasure in acts of senseless violence. He begins contemplating giving up crime himself to become a productive member of society and start a family of his own, while reflecting on the notion that his own children will be just as destructive—if not more so—than he himself.

X-Men: "Days of Future Past"
I am doing this blog post in response to the upcoming film "X-Men: Days of Future Past" I recently saw a trailer for the upcoming film. I am also a former hardcore comic book collector and I have read the graphic novel that came out to reintroduce this story line back in the early 90's. I also know that most of these comic book superhero movies are changed slightly from the original story line.
"Days of Future Past" is a storyline in the Marvel Comics comic book The Uncanny X-Men issues #141-142, published in 1980. It deals with a dystopian future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An adult Kate Pryde transfers her mind into her younger self, the present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history that triggers anti-mutant hysteria.
The storyline was produced during the franchise's rise to popularity under the writer/artist team of Chris Claremont, John Byrne and Terry Austin. The dark future seen in the story has been revisited numerous times. In 2001, fans voted the first issue of this storyline the 25th greatest Marvel comic.
The reality in which the story occurs is designated Earth-811 in the Marvel Multiverse.
The storyline alternates between the (then) present year of 1980, and the (then) future year of 2013. In the future, Sentinels rule a dystopian United States, and mutants are hunted and placed in internment camps. Having conquered North America, the Sentinels are turning their attention to mutants and other superhumans worldwide. On the eve of a feared nuclear holocaust, the few remaining X-Men send Kitty Pryde's mind backward through time, to possess the body of her younger self and to prevent a pivotal event in mutant–human history: the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly by Mystique's newly reassembled Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
Working with the present-day X-Men, Kitty Pryde's future self succeeds in her mission and is pulled back to her own time, while her present-day self is returned with no memory of any interim. The world of 2013 is not shown again in this story arc; the present-day X-Men are left to ponder whether their future dystopia has been averted or simply delayed.
The Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe: Alternate Universes 2005 gave the numerical designation for the original "Days of Future Past" timeline as Earth-811.
From what I have seen in the trailers Wolverine is sent to past and runs into a young Magneto and Xavier. I am looking forward to the film and we will see how well they treat the comic story line. I am glad that they are doing Days of Future Past, and the other story line from the X-men universe I would suggest turning into a film is the Age of Apocalypse. That was an awesome story line to me.

I am Ozzy
I Am Ozzy is the autobiography of Ozzy Osbourne, vocalist of Black Sabbath and solo singer. It chronicles his life, beginning as a child, followed by his career as a vocalist. The book is 416 pages long. The book was widely praised by its readers for its level of detail, and humor. It currently holds a 4.6/5 rating on Amazon.com.
This book when it first came out was a must read for me. I have been a big Ozzy fan for years. I listened to and enjoyed his work with Black Sabbath and his solo work is great too. Like many people I watched the Osbournes on MTV, it was a reality show that followed the Osbournes life.
The book chronicles his child hood, his meeting of the Black Sabbath members, the start of his solo career and how he met Sharron, his wife. The book is very honest and is full of humor. I recommend this book to anyone who is or was an Ozzy fan.

Noah: A Movie Review
I know that many of you saw the trailer for NOAH and saw that it stars Russell Crowe as Noah. For those of you that follow the Bible to the letter, well this movie is not for you. I have heard alot of Christians fuss that this movie is not "Biblical accurate" or Russell Crowe as Noah is not right, blah blah blah. For those of you that want a Christian movie go see either "God is Dead" or the one called "I Saw Heaven" or something similar to that in title. Both of those before mentioned movies I am not going to see at all.
Noah to me was a good movie with action and a plot. Yes it was long at moments and there was alot that could of been cut out. For many of us we were taught the story of Noah in detail and if you do not go to see this movie with an open mind then please do not waste your money to go see it if you are looking for "Biblically Accurate". It is not that by all means.
I went into it with an open mind. I knew the story of Noah from my childhood so I knew what I was walking into. At some points it had a "Lord of the Rings" feel to it. What I mean by that is that the angels trapped in the mud were similar to the walking trees.

The Pit and the Pendulum
"The Pit and the Pendulum" is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe and first published in 1842 in the literary annual The Gift: A Christmas and New Year's Present for 1843. The story is about the torments endured by a prisoner of the Spanish Inquisition, though Poe skews historical facts. The narrator of the story describes his experience of being tortured. The story is especially effective at inspiring fear in the reader because of its heavy focus on the senses, such as sound, emphasizing its reality, unlike many of Poe's stories which are aided by the supernatural. The traditional elements established in popular horror tales at the time are followed, but critical reception has been mixed. The tale has been adapted to film several times.
The story takes place during the Spanish Inquisition. At the beginning of the story an unnamed narrator is brought to trial before various sinister judges. Poe provides no explanation of why he is there or for what he has been arrested. Before him are seven tall white candles on a table, and, as they melt, his hopes of survival also diminish. He is condemned to death and finds himself in a pitch black compartment. At first the prisoner thinks that he is locked in a tomb, but he discovers that he is in a cell. He decides to explore the cell by placing a hem from his robe against a wall so he can count the paces around the room; however, he faints before being able to measure the whole perimeter.
When the prisoner awakens he discovers food and water nearby. He gets back up and tries to measure the prison again, finding that the perimeter measures one hundred steps. While crossing the room he slips on the hem of his robe. He discovers that if he had not tripped he would have walked into a deep pit with water at the bottom in the center of the cell.
After losing consciousness again the narrator discovers that the prison is slightly illuminated and that he is bound to a wooden board by ropes. He looks up in horror to see a painted picture of Father Time on the ceiling; hanging from the figure is a gigantic scythe-like pendulum swinging slowly back and forth. The pendulum is inexorably sliding downwards and will eventually kill him. However, the condemned man is able to attract rats to his bonds with meat left for him to eat and they start chewing through the ropes. As the pendulum reaches a point inches above his heart, the prisoner breaks free of the ropes and watches as the pendulum is drawn back to the ceiling.
He then sees that the walls have become red-hot and begun moving inwards, driving him into the center of the room and towards the brink of the pit. As he gazes into the pit, he decides that no fate could be worse than falling into it. It is implied by the text that the narrator fears what he sees at the bottom of the pit, or perhaps is frightened by its depth. The exact cause of his fear is not clearly stated. However, as the narrator moves back from the pit, he sees that the red-hot walls are leaving him with no foothold. As the prisoner begins to fall into the pit, he hears human voices. The walls rush back and an arm catches him. The French Army has taken Toledo and the Inquistion is in the hands of its enemies.
Poe makes no attempt to describe accurately the operations of the Spanish Inquisition, and takes considerable dramatic license with the broader history premised in this story. The rescuers are led by Napoleon's General Lasalle (who was not, however, in command of the French occupation of Toledo) and this places the action during the Peninsular War (1808-14), centuries after the height of the Spanish Inquisition and at a time when it had lost much of its power. The elaborate tortures of this story have no historic parallels in the activity of the Spanish Inquisition in any century, let alone the nineteenth. The Inquisition was, however, abolished during the period of French intervention (1808–13).
Poe places a Latin epigraph before the story, describing it as "a quatrain composed for the gates of a market to be erected upon the site of the Jacobin Club House at Paris". The epigraph was not Poe's invention; such an inscription had been reported, no later than 1803, as having been composed with the intention (possibly facetious) of having it placed on the site, and it had appeared, without attribution, as an item of trivia in the 1836 Southern Literary Messenger, a periodical to which Poe contributed. It does not appear, however, that the market was ever built as intended. Charles Baudelaire, a noted French writer who translated Poe's works into French and who was largely inspired by him, said that the building on the site of the Old Jacobin Club had no gates and, therefore, no inscription

The Left Behind Series
Left Behind is a series of 16 best-selling novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, dealing with Christian dispensationalist End Times: pretribulation, premillennial, Christian eschatological viewpoint of the end of the world. The primary conflict of the series is the members of the Tribulation Force against the Global Community and its leader Nicolae Carpathia—the Antichrist. Left Behind is also the title of the first book in the series. The series was first published 1995–2007 by Tyndale House, a firm with a history of interest in dispensationalism.
Based on dispensationalist interpretation of prophecies in the Biblical books of Revelation, Daniel, Isaiah and Ezekiel, Left Behind tells the story of the end times (set in the contemporary era), in which true believers in Christ have been "raptured", (i.e. taken instantly to heaven) leaving the world shattered and chaotic. As people scramble for answers, a relatively unknown Romanian politician named Nicolae Jetty Carpathia rises to become secretary-general of the United Nations, promising to restore peace and stability to all nations. What most of the world does not realize is that Carpathia is actually the Antichrist foretold from the Bible. Coming to grips with the truth and becoming born-again Christians, airline pilot Rayford Steele, his daughter Chloe, their pastor Bruce Barnes, and young journalist Cameron "Buck" Williams begin their quest as the Tribulation Force to help save the lost and prepare for the coming Tribulation, in which God will rain down judgment on the world for seven years.
This was a series of books I had started reading. I had read the first 6 or 7 of the books, the books even though "Christian Fiction" were very well written and very interesting. I never finished the series.
1 Left Behind: A Novel of the Earth's Last Days 1995
2 Tribulation Force: The Continuing Drama of Those Left Behind 1996
3 Nicolae: The Rise of Antichrist 1997
4 Soul Harvest: The World Takes Sides 1999
5 Apollyon: The Destroyer Is Unleashed 1999
6 Assassins: Assignment: Jerusalem, Target: Antichrist 1999
The movie that starred Kirk Cameron was horrible.

Ultimate Warrior Passes Away @ Age 54
This was just seen by me a little bit ago. I am shocked that he has passed away. He was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this past Saturday and made an appearance on this past Monday's episode of RAW.
I remember watching the Ultimate Warrior on TV when he first appeared on the scene in WWE. But before he became the Ultimate Warrior he was the Dingo Warrior back in WCCW (World Class Championship Wrestling). He also wrestled in Florida for many years as the tag team partner to Sting in the early 80's before he went to WCCW and Sting went to the NWA.
The Ultimate Warrior had feuds with Ravishing Rick Rude for the Intercontinental Tittle, they swapped it between each other several times. He retired Randy Savage at WrestleMania 7 and he defeated Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 6 for both the tittles. He was supposed to take the torch from Hulk Hogan because Hogan was going to retire after that Wrestlemania. But the Ultimate Warrior changed paths as the saying goes. He made a brief appearance in WCW, but that did not work out either.
He changed his name legally to Warrior and was a motivational speaker.
R.I.P. Ultimate Warrior

Just a quick update on this blog, the Ultimate Warrior died last week due to a massive heart attack.

Where the Red Fern Grows (Blog #100)
To my readers and followers this blog has made it to #100 and instead of doing a celebratory blog for reaching this accomplishment I decided since I did Blog #90 a few days ago I will wait awhile to do another celebratory blog. Thank you for your support of this blog, without you my fellow readers this blog would not exist.
Where the Red Fern Grows was a book I had to read in middle school. If you have not read this book it has a few touching and tear jerking parts in it. I remember members of my class crying about parts of this book. If you have read old yellar this is your spoiler alert.
Where the Red Fern Grows is a 1961 novel by Wilson Rawls about a boy who buys and trains two Redbone Coonhound hunting dogs.
Before leaving work one afternoon, Billy Coleman spots a Redbone Coonhound in a fight with neighborhood dogs. He chases the other dogs away and helps it recover from its wounds. When it is feeling stronger again, he realizes he must set it free, knowing that it will find its way home. This event makes him revisit his past, and the two Redbone Coonhounds he had taken care of when he was a boy in the Ozarks.
Growing up in the Ozarks with his parents and three younger sisters, Billy Coleman, at age 10, wants to own a pair of Redbone Coonhounds but his parents tell him that they can't afford them. One day he finds an article in a sportsman magazine offering a pair in Kentucky for $25 each. He decides to earn the money himself. For two years, he works many different jobs, and manages to save $50. His grandfather writes to the kennel and finds out that the dogs have dropped in price by $5 each. He sends for two Redbone Coonhound puppies.
The mail does not deliver packages, and so the puppies have to be sent to the depot at Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Billy travels on his own by walking there and gets them. With the extra $10 his grandfather gave him, he buys gifts for his family: a pair of overalls for his dad, cloth for making dresses for his mom and sisters, and a bag of candy for his sisters. On the way back home, he spends the night in Robber's Cave on Sparrow Hawk Mountain. There he builds a fire and plays with the puppies. While trying to sleep, he hears a noise that at first seems like a woman screaming, but he soon realizes it is really that of a mountain lion from far away. Both puppies run to the mouth of the cave and challenge the cat. Billy worries for them, and he remembers that his father told him "mountain lions are scared of fire," so he makes fire and waits for morning. In the morning, he continues on. He comes to a sycamore tree and sees the names Dan and Ann carved inside a heart in the bark and decides to name the puppies Old Dan and Little Ann.
To train his dogs, Billy catches a raccoon with the help of his grandfather and uses the fur to teach them how to trail one. During their training, their personalities become apparent: Old Dan is brave and strong, while Little Ann is very intelligent. Both are very loyal to each other and to Billy. Old Dan has the brawn, and Little Ann has the brains.
On the first day of the hunting season, Billy takes his dogs out for their very first hunt. He promises them that if they tree a raccoon, he will do the rest. They are very ready to chase their first raccoon in a large tree, which Billy had before nicknamed "the Big Tree", and is one of the largest in the woods. As he tries to call his well-trained dogs off the hunt, they look at him sadly and he cuts down the enormous tree to keep his promise — an exhausting effort that takes him a few days of chopping and costs him blistered hands. In the end, when about to give up his effort, he offers a short prayer for strength to continue. Mysteriously, a strong wind starts to blow and the tree comes crashing down. Old Dan and Little Ann take the raccoon down.
Billy, Old Dan, and Little Ann go out hunting almost every night. As months go by, he brings more fur to his grandfather's store than any other hunter, and the stories of his dogs spread throughout the Ozarks. One day, he and his grandfather make a bet with Rubin and Rainie Pritchard, that his hounds can catch the legendary "ghost coon." The Pritchard boys set out with him to see if Old Dan and Little Ann can catch it. It leads them on a long, complicated chase, and the Pritchard boys want to give up. But Billy is determined. Finally, when they have it treed, Billy refuses to kill it. Just as Rubin starts to beat up Billy, Old Dan and Little Ann begin to attack the Pritchards' dog, Old Blue. Rubin runs to attack them with an axe, but he falls on it and kills himself. Billy is very distraught afterward. Finally he goes to Rubin's grave with some flowers, then feels much better.
A few weeks later, Billy's grandfather enters him into a championship raccoon hunt, putting him against experienced hunters and the finest dogs in all the country. Before it starts, he enters Little Ann into a contest for the best-looking dog, where she wins and is given the silver cup. On the fourth night of the hunt, Old Dan and Little Ann chase three raccoons, making it to the final round. The sixth night, they chase one before a blizzard hits. Billy, his dad, grandfather, and the judge lose sight of them. When they finally find them, Billy's grandfather falls and sprains his ankle which prevents him from walking. They built a fire, and when Billy's dad chops down a tree, three raccoons rise. The dogs take down two of them, and chase the third one to another tree. In the morning, the hunters find them covered with ice circling the bottom of a tree. The last raccoon wins them the championship and the gold cup.
Billy's mom and sisters are overjoyed. Billy keeps up his hunting. One night, however, his dogs tree a mountain lion. Old Dan howls defiantly, and the big cat attacks. Billy is horrified, and with his axe he enters the fray, hoping to save his dogs, but they end up having to save him. Eventually, the dogs defeat the mountain lion, but Old Dan is badly wounded, and Billy soon finds Old Dan's intestines in a bush. He dies the next day. Billy is heartbroken, and Little Ann is so sad that she loses her will to live, and dies a few days later on Old Dan's grave. Billy's papa tries to tell him that it is all for the best, because with the money he has earned, they hope to move to town. He does not completely recover until on the day of the move; he goes to visit the dogs' graves and finds a giant red fern between them. According to Indian legend, only an angel can plant a red fern. He and his family look at it in awe, and he feels ready to leave for town.

End of Support for Windows XP and MS Office 2003
Well world today is the big day the end of support for Windows XP. Well parts of the world have reported that they are not giving up using XP. My job still uses Windows XP, unfortunately it needs updating badly, they have not even updated to Service Pack 3 for XP. There are a few schools freaking out today. Luckily my college is running Windows 7.
I felt like some of the emails Microsoft was sending was a little bit intimidating and to me Microsoft had become a bully. I mean some of them sounded like we the XP users would suffer a Y2K effect and our computers would quit working if we still running XP. As I write this I guess Windows is sending the last of the Windows XP updates. If my computer was not so old I would try to upgrade to at least Windows 7, there is no way I can upgrade to 8.
So technology is moving on and we the users of XP will still be here tomorrow.

Kurt Cobain-20 Years Later
April 8, 1994 will live in infamy as the day that Kurt Cobain of Nirvana killed himself. I still remember where I was and what I was doing that day.
I was 17 and in high school. I remember a rumor going around that day in school and I got home and turned on MTV and Kurt Loder was covering the story. I had just started listening to Nirvana and grunge in general. After that I think I listened to Nevermind and In Utero everyday for the rest of the week. I knew how people felt in 1980 when John Lennon was murdered in New York. Nirvana's music got me through high school.
I still think and agree with many people that Kurt killed himself because he could not handle all of the fame he got. His star rose too fast and he was not ready for it. He also had alot medically wrong with him. He started a musical movement called grunge and he helped kill the 80's hair bands that ruled the world for so long.
Thank you Kurt Cobain for the great music you brought into the world. We miss you.

WrestleMania 30: My Thoughts
I read the results on WWE.com a little while ago and I was happy to see that Daniel Bryan finally got his shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and won the Triple Threat Match. Congratulations to him for that.
The second major event for WrestleMania that I cared about was the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. I, like most, was expecting the Big Show to win it but I was shocked to see who did win it. Antonio Ceasro. So congratulations to him for that accomplishment.
The third major even that I cared about was the Undertaker vs. Brock Lesner. I have been a long time fan of the Undertaker and I have followed the Streak. I, also like every other fan, was very surprised to see the streak end to of all people Brock Lesner. Brock is not even a regular wrestler, so my question is why did they let Brock end the streak. That is an insult to every Undertaker fan ever. So I am very disappointed with that decision. I hope that maybe this is a sign that Undertaker is ready to retire. He has had a long and awesome career. So WWE here is a suggestion for the Hall of Fame class of 2015, induct the Undertaker.
Speaking of the Hall of Fame class of 2014. I was glad that they inducted Paul Bearer long time manager of the Undertaker. Even though he died last year I felt they should of inducted him into the Hall of Fame last year. Jake Roberts, Razor Ramon (Scott Hall), Lita, and the Ultimate Warrior all got inducted this year. I figured they would induct Lita after Trish Stratus got inducted a couple of years ago.

Desperation by Stephen King
I had the hard cover of this book when it first came out. If you had seen this book it was huge in the hardcover version and to some it might of been a challenge. I finished desperation in about a week and half. I enjoyed the book greatly.
Located off a desolate stretch of Interstate 50, Desperation, Nevada has few connections with the rest of the world. It is a place, though, where the seams between worlds are thin. Miners at the China Pit have accidentally broken into another dimension and released a horrific creature known as Tak, who takes human form by hijacking some of the town's residents. The forces of good orchestrate a confrontation between this ancient evil and a group of unsuspecting travelers who are lured to the dying town. This rag-tag band of unwilling champions is led by a young boy who speaks to God.
Desperation was the first book of Stephen King's I had actually read all the way through. I had checked out Carrie at the library but never finished it. Desperation was released as a TV movie and it was not as good as the book. They left alot out that I thought kept the story moving.
If you have not read Desperation I suggest checking it out. It takes you on a ride from beginning to end.

Necessary Lies by Janice Daugharty
Necessary Lies by Janice Daugharty was a book I had to read in college. I got to meet the author during a book tour and my copy of this book was autographed by the author. This book was an interesting read. Unfortunately the book is now out of print and is only available on ebook, as I writing this blog I found it on Amazon and its available on Kindle.
Set in the poverty-ridden backwoods of south Georgia, this novel tells the story of Cliffie Flowers, a courageous seventeen-year-old girl who becomes pregnant. Cliffie fears the rage and disappointment of her defeated father, but secretly hopes that her pregnancy might represent an escape from the oppressive, tight-knit community in which she is trapped. Those hopes are shattered when violence erupts and Cliffie is accused of murders she did not commit. In order to keep hidden the shameful secrets of her father's past, she is forced to hide her own innocence and stand by the necessary lies that will torment her. Despite the poverty and despair of her life, Cliffie refuses to succumb to the overwhelming bleakness as she faces her fate with a courage and hope that make her one of the most remarkable heroines in recent fiction. Written in a distinctive voice that captures the tone and texture of rural Georgia and full of remarkably human characters, Necessary Lies marks the emergence of an important new voice in Southern literature.
A powerful and poignant coming-of-age novel marks the emergence of an important and critically acclaimed new voice in Southern literature.
If you find a copy of this book you will not be able to put it down all the way to the end.

Lord of the Flies
Lord of Flies was a book I read as required reading for a high school English class. I had seen the movie and thought it was interesting but I liked the book better. Isn't that how most books that become movies are, the movie is ok but the book is better.
Lord of the Flies is a 1954 dystopian novel by Nobel Prize-winning English author William Golding about a group of British boys stuck on an uninhabited island who try to govern themselves with disastrous results. Its stances on the already controversial subjects of human nature and individual welfare versus the common good earned it position 68 on the American Library Association’s list of the 100 most frequently challenged books of 1990–1999.[2] The novel is a reaction to the youth novel The Coral Island by R. M. Ballantyne.
Published in 1954, Lord of the Flies was Golding’s first novel. Although it was not a great success at the time—selling fewer than 3,000 copies in the United States during 1955 before going out of print—it soon went on to become a best-seller, and by the early 1960s was required reading in many schools and colleges.[citation needed] It has been adapted to film twice in English, in 1963 by Peter Brook and 1990 by Harry Hook, and once in Filipino (1976).
In 2005 the novel was chosen by TIME magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to 2005. It was awarded a place on both lists of Modern Library 100 Best Novels, reaching number 41 on the editor's list, and 25 on the reader's list. In 2003, the novel was listed at number 70 on the BBC's survey The Big Read.
I enjoyed reading that book. When the kid Piggy is killed by a rock that is the most shocking part of that book. The other tribe killed him because they wanted his eyeglasses to use to start fires. I remember when we talked about him being killed most of the class was shocked and appalled, they did not understand survival of the fittest.
If you have not read this book I suggest that you do.

Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar Allen Poe became one of my favorite authors growing up. When I discovered him in high school after reading the "Raven" in an 8th grade literature class. I thought why can't most of this early literature interest me. Reading Poe was part of me becoming Gothic. Even though the literature book in 8th grade only gave you a small sampling of it, I went to the library and found a very old Poe book and read the rest of the Raven and the Tell Tale Heart, another awesome story by Poe, but what became my all time favorite was the Pit and Pendulum. I remember talking about the Spanish Inquisition in history and all the torture that went on in that time period. For those of you that do not know what the Spanish Inquisition was:
The Tribunal of the Holy Office of the Inquisition (Spanish: Tribunal del Santo Oficio de la Inquisición), commonly known as the Spanish Inquisition (Inquisición española), was established in 1478 by Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile. It was intended to maintain Catholic orthodoxy in their kingdoms and to replace the Medieval Inquisition, which was under Papal control. It became the most substantive of the three different manifestations of the wider Christian Inquisition along with the Roman Inquisition and Portuguese Inquisition.
The Inquisition was originally intended in large part to ensure the orthodoxy of those who converted from Judaism and Islam. This regulation of the faith of the newly converted was intensified after the royal decrees issued in 1492 and 1501 ordering Jews and Muslims to convert or leave.
Various motives have been proposed for the monarchs' decision to found the Inquisition such as increasing political authority, weakening opposition, suppressing conversos, profiting from confiscation of the property of convicted heretics, reducing social tensions, and protecting the kingdom from the danger of a fifth column.
The body was under the direct control of the Spanish monarchy. It was not definitively abolished until 1834, during the reign of Isabella II, after a period of declining influence in the previous century.
Story of the Pit and the Pendulum was about a man imprisoned during the height of the Inquisition. Poe writes in detail the torture he went through but the main part was when he was on a table chained down and in the dark and all he heard was the blade on the pendulum cutting through the air. Can you imagine being in that kind of torture in the dark and all you hear is your death slowly lowering minute by minute. You laying there hearing the swishing of the blade. Luckily the character gets freed because the Inquisition ends.
I have read other stories by Poe but these I have mentioned are my top 3 favorites.

Pat Robertson Tells a Wiccan He's Going To Hell
Pat Robertson is a host of the 700 Club. His thought processes make him sound like he is stuck in the 1950's. Well every episode their is a segment where people write to them for "Godly Advice".
In this particular episode a Wiccan wrote in claiming that he was a good person and did good deeds to help people. Pat's response was when he died and got to the pearly gates Pat claims that God is going to tell him that he may of been the nicest person God has met that he has to turn away. Basically meaning since the Wiccan did not accept Jesus into his heart that he will not get into heaven.
I personally know a few Wiccans, and they do not worry about going to heaven when they die. They believe they are going to return to the earth and exist as part of the Earth. They do not believe in the whole heaven and hell theory. So here is my question what in the world made a Wiccan want to write to the 700 Club?
I mean really.....

Microsoft Announces a "Start" Button on Windows 8
As you all know the end of support for Microsoft XP is next week. I also found out that they are also ending support for Office 2003. I have learned to use Windows 7 and I like it, because it is similar to Windows XP. I have not touched or tried Windows 8 or 8.1, but recently it was announced that they were going to bring back the "Start" button on Windows 8. Ok that is a step in the right direction for Microsoft by doing that. I have seen a Windows phone and I have been told Windows 8 and 8.1 is similar to the set up of a Windows phone. I did not like the looks of that setup. I have used Windows since 3.1 came out. To me Windows XP was better than 95 and 98. I never used Vista or Windows 2000, everyone I know hated them both.
I understand that technology moves very quickly. I agree that things have to change with the times, but as the saying goes if its not broke do not fix it. Windows 7 as I said to me is similar to Windows XP. I just did not like the emails I kept getting from Microsoft every other day. I actually felt like Microsoft was wanting to "bully" me.

Blog #90
I made it to blog #90. Thank you all for the support to get this far. I originally had an idea for this blog entry but I changed my mind so much today and yesterday when I realized that I was at number 90. I have been dealing with alot and that is why you the reader of this blog has probably felt let down. I am sorry for that. Things have gone on and I have not written near as much, and part of it is I lost interest not only in this blog but in life in general. I have not been depressed or need to rediscover religion. I have just felt disconnected from myself and feel into a rut. I have no life outside of my little box. School was a major motivator and then I dropped out due to finding out somethings about what I was majoring in that I did not like and then I did drop out and it left me with a void. I dropped out mainly because I was having issues with a class that I am not strong in, being on LinkedIn has not helped and I could not see myself volunteering all over the place to gain experience in my former major. Plus if you have been a regular reader of my blog I have felt like I have lost something and no I still not found it. Alot of people have told me its not dead or gone just waiting to be reawaken, I am still waiting. My job, oh where do I start on that subject, I hate it and its the reason I went back to school in the first place. So I am beginning to agree with a friend of mine that I simply have no life, I am always helping family, or working with no break in the pattern and that in turn is making me just despise everything.
I have always been there for my friends, most of which are online, they are the very few who understand me or try to and they know in turn that I am there for them. In my real world I have zero friends because I do not fit in at all and no one agrees with my points of view. I have been known to scare people with what goes on in my head. I do not try to scare them I feel like I am on a different level of intelligence.
I will not be doing a blog on ICD-10 anymore the delay is set in stone and come to find out the government has been stalling this since 1999. But since I am no longer in that program of study I am letting that subject go. All of my former classmates and people I talked to on LinkedIn are in shock and still looking for that bright side.
So moving forward I am going to get back to writing about various things. I am headed into a technology field in the summer so I am going to be doing the only thing left I feel I can do and that is Computer Support Specialist. So I am looking forward to that if I can get back into school with no issues. So that will light a little fire under my butt.
I have fallen into a rut of doing the same thing everyday with no change. I have no friends with the same interests in my area. So this summer I will be pretty much starting over in school and hopefully can find some interesting people with the same interest in computer technology.
Thanks again for the support of this blog, and please forgive me for the lack of writing, and I am going to try to get the blogging fire reignited so please be patient.

Yahoo Announces Their Version of "YouTube"
Yahoo announced this week that they are coming out with their own version of "YouTube". I find this interesting. With all of the unneeded changes at YouTube alot of content creators are not happy with those changes. So the question is how many content creators are going to jump ship or start a new channel under the Yahoo format. But for Yahoo to make a serious dent in what YouTube has will they offer to pay them for their content and the ad revenue. I have not had time to research this like I would normally but from what I watch on YouTube and all of the content creators are not happy with YouTube, if Yahoo offers the same benefits and do not change the format every other week like YouTube does I see alot of people leaving YouTube.
As for me I am staying right here on Blogger. This medium is more convenient for me. I just do not have time to be more creative to be a video creator. I am a subscriber on YouTube I like alot of channels on YouTube.

IPads in the Classroom
It was announced recently that a school system was debating having IPads in each classroom instead of textbooks. That would be a good idea to save money on textbooks and it would help the school system's budget. But the other side of the coin in this situation is that students may walk out with them or try to take them off campus. So they would have to have alot of security issues. More than you would have if the classrooms were full of desktops. The college I attend the computers have a security block of certain sites. It sounds like a good idea on paper but the prevention of students trying to take them home would be a huge expense. Plus with sites like Quizlet they might be able to find answers to tests and what not so there is the fear of increasing cheating.

Rediscovering Pandora
I recently got an email from Pandora, you know one of those that goes "did you forget us". To be honest yes I did forget about Pandora. So I have been back on Pandora and remembering why I listened to Pandora internet radio to begin with. I live in an area where radio stations play nothing but country, Christian, classical, and of course that mainstream crap that the world considers pop music. I hate the radio stations around here. The only rock station is in a town that is an hour away from me and you can only pick up that station in spots. So since last week I have been rocking out my Pandora when my internet connection is not being a pain.
If you are in the same situation musically that I am in go to www.pandora.com and create your own radio station today.

ICD-10 Delay Confirmed and CCS Certification Test: My Thoughts
Well Monday 03/31/14 the Government passed the law that gave a temporary patch to Medicare and it included the one year delay of ICD-10. All of my former classmates in Health Information Technology are freaking out because most of them learned ICD-10 and not ICD-9. Plus the internet is blowing up with this decision and they all feel like they have wasted their time and now they feel like they will not be able to get a job now. Alot of negative press has come up about how its the doctors fault and this and that. I feel like this might be a good thing because alot of doctor's were not ready for ICD-10 plus their biggest fear was only getting paid for Medicare and some Medicaid patients by their performance not with the patient coming over and over to see the doctor.
Also announced this week, like current and future HIT professionals needed more stress, AHIMA announced that the CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) certification was being canceled until further notice. Why did they cancel because they are claiming that their was a security breach and so they have to investigate it. So somehow the test got leaked. From what I have read and from what people who have taken the test have told me. Taking the test is under high security and your books you get to bring to the test gets searched and you can only bring the books in and that is it. So someone let some people slide and now all the current students and anyone who was going to take this test is out of luck.
I really do feel sorry for all of my former major mates and all the professionals who were looking forward to a potential promotion by taking the test. This will just give all of the healthcare professionals another year to be ready and more people trained for it. Even though there are alot of hospitals that were almost ready for it.
I am glad that I changed majors. If the Comptia A+ test ever gets canceled for whatever reason I would be pissed.
