I saw this one on the news today.
CVS announces that they are going to quit selling cigarettes and other tobacco related products out of their stores starting OCTOBER 2014. I think that this is awesome news. I am not a smoker and I have never supported cigarettes or other tobacco products. I have seen the damage these products can do on the human body. I have relatives that smoked for YEARS. Both my late grandparents smoked in their younger years and my grandmother had lung and breast cancer. My grandfather died from cancer in 2004. My granny was sick all of the time and developed emphysema. I used to stock the tobacco products at a grocery store and saw all the material that came with them that discussed their products. Newport sent a packet of information about their product when they were still or might be still using fiberglass. The packet contained autopsy pictures of a lung from a regular Newport smoker and it was not only looking like a piece of charcoal it was full of fiberglass. The same report talked about how the fiberglass shredded the inside of their esophagus.
CVS's decision to drop cigarettes is a major break though and I am glad they are doing it. They are actually going to help increase the promotion of better health in their stores. Isn't that what a pharmacy is supposed to do improve and promote better health. I think that all other pharmacies should follow what CVS is doing they might lose a little extra revenue but they could always use the newly freed space to put in a Minute Clinic in all of their stores.
