For those of you that have not heard or simply been under a rock on April 8th Microsoft is ending all support services for users of Windows XP. Just a side thought this blog is produced on a computer that is run on Windows XP. If you go to the Microsoft store they are offering all Windows XP users $100 off any new computer, and a few other services if you buy a new computer. However there is a small catch to this offer, the computer you buy has to be $599 or more. And from the list I saw if you are a loyal desktop computer user like I am, there are no desktops on the list. The list is compiled of laptops, tablets, and Surface, and all in ones. I like the looks of an all in one PC, where it is just a big monitor with a wireless mouse and keyboard. But come on Microsoft just a small $100 off and you have to buy $599 or higher computer. Microsoft wants all of the Windows XP faithful to go to Windows 8 or 8.1, but I like Windows 7. It is the most similar to Windows XP, I have not used or touched Windows 8 yet.
So where is Microsoft going to leave us Windows XP faithful after April 8th. Well if we have an issue we will have to find someone to fix it and that may cost a pretty penny. There will be no new security patches for us to get. And we will not be able to buy any new software that will work on our computers. So we will basically be left in the cold.
I am going to still use my Windows XP computer. I do not have the cashflow to buy a new computer and a new printer/scanner. I will one day get me a new computer hopefully, but I guess I will simply use my parents computer who is running Windows 7 or since I have a live class in the summer I guess I can be out there to get my classwork done.
