This blog involves my family who is after today I have decided is very fundamentalist creationist Christian. My family farms and was complaining that the weather had put them behind and my response was it was due to the destabilization in the weather due to Global Warming. To my surprise the response was Global warming does not exist so that must mean you are a democrat. My reply was I have no political ties, I am simply a realist. I asked if they had attended science classes, where I learned about global warming, evolution, etc. The reply from my family was that yes they did sit through science classes. So we were sitting around and the conversation started again about me believing in global warming. So my parents think they have failed in the way I was raised and that science is a "soothsayer". I wanted to jump up get on their computer and Google all of this knowledge that my family is blinding ignoring.
I used realist as a more protective way of saying atheist, but now that I know where in the Christian viewpoint they are at, I think its safer that I remain a closet atheist and just use realist for my own protection. I believe in science. I have sat through enough classes in school to have an understanding of what is going on in the world. I also sat through Biology and Anatomy classes so Evolution has been discussed in detail. Plus there are enough fossils in the world to prove how old the planet truly is.
It took an explorer crazy enough to prove that the world was not flat. We have enough evidence to prove global warming, evolution, and the age of our planet. "God's wraith" does not apply to the weather and what not. There are enough science/religious debates on the Internet. Human beings are the reason for global warming, human greed is the reason that politicians in power do not see what is truly going on, and a 2,000 year old book that was written by human beings should not be used to defend their opinions and make laws based on that.
Thank you Pat Robertson, John Hague, TBN and all the other supposed Christian rights for making my life more difficult. It hurt my feelings when family starts this we failed you in the way we raised you. They do not understand that even if I was raised fully in a church do they not think that I could still walk away from it.
Secularism is on the rise in this country. There are moments that I wish I could move to Sweden but it is just too cold.
