It was announced recently that sales and rentals of blue ray movies was down compared to when they first came out. People are predicting the end of Blue ray discs as a video medium. So why is this recent decline in sales a possible death sentence for blue ray.
Most people, and I, agree that the rise of the digital movie and movies on demand has hurt blue ray. Netflix and Hulu are perfect examples for the end of blue ray. The expense to buy movies on blue ray due to all of the extra features. There are fewer and fewer places to go and rent a physical movie on a disc. Video on demand is the reason why video stores are slowly dying out.
People are predicting that DVD, CD, and blu ray will all be relics due to the all digital age. Look at some newer models of cars that now have a port in their radios for a USB flash drive.
