Computer Blog #2: Planning the Project
We continue our journey through this HP Pavilion a305w tower. After you open the cover and look inside you need to decide whether or not you are going to take pictures or draw everything in the tower so you can remember where everything connects when you go to put it back together. I will be doing a drawing for this project. With this being an older, unused tower, I recently took the tower to use an air compressor to blow all of the dust and bugs out of it. I know that you are supposed to use small cans of compressed air, but this system was so dusty I had to use something a little stronger to get the dust and all out of it.
Once you get your plan together you need either static gloves or a static bracelet, both of these are needed to protect your equipment from static electricity. You need the right tools to get the screws out of it. In most systems you have two or more screws holding the power supply in place. In the picture above it is in the upper left hand corner with the yellow sticker on the side of it. For some systems you need a standard Philips and flat head screwdriver The other part you need a Philips head screwdriver, based on your system, is to get the motherboard out and to pull the optic drive, 3.5 floppy, and the hard drive.
Next computer blog the power supply.
